Manuka Smoked Red Lager
Introducing our Oktoberfest-adjacent, Bamberg style, Manuka-Smoked Red Rye Lager. We're not gonna lie, Oktoberfest surprises us every year. And without a proper shot at brewing a Marzen in March, we wanted to create something not unheard of in German Beer Halls but also not just a poor interpretation of the Oktoberfest tradition. So a little contemporaried, we’ve taken some lovely Manuka Smoked malt from Gladfield and combined it with Crystal Rye, Biscuit and light caramel malts. Magnum and Tettnang provide supporting roles and a classic Oktoberfest element. Overall, it’s to be enjoyed for what it is, without getting to uptight about stylistic histories.
A complex array of smoked flavours hit upfront. Cedar wood, camp fire and the classic bacon like flavours come through. The earthy and caramel malts provide structure so the smoke isn’t too dominate. A subtle hint of mint and earthy hops help to balance the palate and leave the experience refreshing. A celebration of old beer, in a new setting.
