The independent icons at Holgate Brewhouse are charting a direct course for pure hop
paradise with X Marks the Spot, a beautifully juiced-up Extra Pale Ale that rejects the trend of stripped-back, thin XPAs. Operating out of their legendary Woodend brewery in the Macedon Ranges, the crew has leaned heavily into the "extra" side of the style. Poured into a glass, it flashes a slightly deeper golden hue than your standard XPA. On the nose, an assertive blend of US and Aussie hops Centennial, Amarillo, and Vic Secret. Unleashes a massive aromatic payload of fresh pine, tropical pineapple, and bright grapefruit rind. The palate hits with a surprisingly solid, clean malt foundation that supports a firm, mouthwatering bitterness and a zesty citrus tang. Sitting at a deceptively smooth 5.5% ABV, it finishes incredibly crisp and dry.
