Alkimi Wild Dreams Syrah Rose2021

From a small block of unirrigated 25+ year-old Syrah vines in Silvan, Yarra Valley. The vineyard is 290m above sea level and is farmed entirely by yours truly. It is truly a cool-climate site which is why it was picked on the 19th April after a very long ripening period.

After being handpicked, the grapes were gently pressed and left to naturally ferment in one puncheon. This fermentation took its time, finally finishing in November 2021, more than 6 months after it begun. During this time the wine was left to its own devices, including it completing malolactic fermentation naturally. No products were added to this wine at any stage.

The wine was hand bottled via gravity straight from the barrel in late November. Lots of pomegranate, Syrah-esc white pepper, and a cool acid line make this a great drink for summer.
