Winemaking power couple Anna Pooley and Justin Bubb are showing absolute elite form with their single-vineyard release from the White Kangaroo Road (WKR) property. Sourced from 23 year old vines rooted in the sandy loams of the Coal River Valley, this meticulous drop is wild fermented with 20% whole bunches and matured carefully in a blend of French oak barriques and concrete tulips. It pours a beautifully translucent, vibrant ruby in the glass. On the nose, it hits you with a gloriously aromatic payload of dark juicy cherry, wild raspberry, and violet petals, anchored by complex hints of medina spice and turned autumn leaves. The palate is effortlessly elegant, showing superb fruit purity backed by a savory slide of umami and stony, powdered river-pebble tannins. It’s an intensely focused, class act Tasmanian Pinot that balances immense energy with structural longevity.
