Eggenberg Samichlaus Classic is the stuff of legend—a dark Doppelbock brewed just once a year on December 6 and aged for 10 months before bottling. Originally crafted in Switzerland and now brewed at Schloss Eggenberg in Austria, it’s among the strongest lagers in the world at 14% ABV. Rich and complex, it pours deep mahogany and delivers flavours of fig, toffee, vanilla, oak, and a sherry-like warmth. Designed to be cellared, it only gets smoother and more nuanced with age. Best savoured slowly, whether alongside roast meats or rich chocolate, or simply on its own as a contemplative digestif.
