Product Description
A savoury, classic Victorian Shiraz. Blackberry, anise, charcuterie & pepper.
Our Heathcote Shiraz is a classic rebooted. For eons, Heathcote’s continental climate and volcanic, gravelly red soil have provided ideal growing conditions for Australia’s #1 planted red wine grape. The region’s Shirazes have been known for their dark fruit, full-bodied savoury black pepper spice, earthy characteristics and punch-in-the-face flavours.
But we’re lovers more than fighters, so with this wine we knew we wanted to showcase all that the region is famous for, minus the punchy bits. We achieve this by picking it a little bit earlier - to tame the trademark Heathcote warm climate richness - and by using a subtle amount of new oak (15%) as it matures. The result is a youthful take on a classic - a lower alcohol wine that’d sooner be sipped today than be bottled up much longer.
Shirazzy enough for the purists, but walking the fine line between boldness & restraint.
