The flavour magicians at Garage Project pay homage to the Mexican Day of the Dead with La Calavera Catrina, a beautifully complex and refreshing maize lager with a fiery kick. Brewed with corn, rose water, and watermelons, and conditioned on real habanero chillies, this radiant amber brew bursts open with intriguing aromas of fresh floral rose, sweet melon, and a subtle whisper of chilli spice. On the palate, a crisp, clean corn-and-malt backbone delivers smooth notes of juicy watermelon and gentle floral sweetness, before a slow, creeping wave of habanero heat warms the back of the throat. Light-bodied, surprisingly balanced, and wildly inventive, it’s a dry, crisp, and slightly spicy masterpiece built for adventurous palates and warm-weather sessions.
